Carrie was a friend, a sister, a daughter and a teacher. She was our travel buddy and college roommate. Carrie loved cute clothes and bright colors, big earrings and great shoes. She loved sitting in the sun, exploring new places, and adventure.
Out of all the things Carrie loved, what she loved most was her people. She loved sipping hot coffee with her people and hearing about their lives, struggles, victories and everything in between. Her mind was always turning about how to connect with her friends and give them her best self.
We loved Carrie for her spunk, for her sense of style, and for being our friend and confidant at all times.
After a debilitating neurological condition robbed her of the use of her body and her voice, we watched in amazement as we saw people from all over the world come to Carrie's side to offer support, encouragement, wisdom and love. Carrie loved her people and they loved her back. She made an impact wherever she was in the world and in her time of need that impact was made clear in the people who showed up for her time and time again.
Carrie's body declined, but she was able to maintain 3 things until her last days. Her relationships, her sense of fashion and her giving spirit. This is why Carrie's Closet exists. Through her trials and hardships, she found dignity in loving others, sharing what she had with everyone and dressing to the nines everyday.
